Genital Warts are also known as Condylomata Acuminata. Often people refer to them as Venereal warts (STD). It is caused by a group of virus known as human papillomavirus or HPV for short. It has been reported that an estimated 40 million Americans have the genital warts virus.

Genital warts are small, hard skin colored bumps. They can be single or multiple, small or large. At times the genital wart are so small that you cannot see them with the naked eye. But many times, they look like tiny cauliflowers when they start to grow bigger. They are painless but sometimes itchy.

In female, the genital wart appear in and around the vagina or anus or on the cervix. These warts maybe flat and invisible.

In the male, the they usually appear near the tip of the penis or on the penis shaft. These are also known as penile wart. Sometimes the warts also appear on the scrotum.

It is estimated that there are one million new cases of genital warts being diagnosed in the USA each year. Genital wart should be treated early. If left untreated, they may grow bigger and multiply. They may lead to genital cancer.

For the woman, the HPV can cause changes in the cervix and lead to cervical cancer.

Genital warts are also commonly associated with genital herpes, although it is not the cause.
